William Edward Fenner

 

[b 23 Sept. 1909 at Waterford, PA; d 27 May 1992] William served in the US Navy between 1928 and 1939, then again between 1941 and 1946. He worked as a machinist and eventually became vice president of Autoclave Engineers, Inc. His daughter Barbara once described him as not having much contact with his family other than his brother and sisters. He was born with bowed legs, but he didn’t wear leg braces because they were too uncomfortable. On 27 March 1943 in Hoboken, NJ, he m Margaret Ann Cartland [b 11 Feb. 1921 at Verona, NJ; d 19 Nov. 1988 at Richmond, VA]. Margaret, daughter of William Cartland and Margaret Demarest, worked as a registered nurse. William died of a heart attack in Braddock Heights, MD and was cremated. Margaret’s ashes were buried next to William’s in the Rocky Gap State Park Military Cemetery in Maryland.
