Eliam Elisha Fenner
[b 28 Apr. 1870 at Alfred, NY; d 27 Oct. 1936 at Alfred, NY] On 14 Feb. 1894, Eliam “Ely” Elisha Fenner m Susan “Susie” Taylor Babcock [b 31 Oct. 1871; d 1 Oct. 1944], daughter of Daniel Enos Babcock and Hannah Ann Witter. Eliam was a cheesemaker in his father’s factories, was burner and engineer at Celadon Tile Works, and he owned a hardware business for 18 years. He was also mayor of Alfred, director and vice-president of the University bank, trustee of Alfred University for 23 years, and was an Allegeny county supervisor for 15 years.
Glenn Babcock [b 3 June 1896 at Alfred, NY; d 7 Apr. 1974 at Wilmington, NC] m Alice Augusta Cranston [1894–1982] on 14 July 1920, daughter of Allen L. and Inez Cranston of Bolivar, NY. Glenn enlisted in World War I, and served in France with the 96th Aero Bombing Squadron. Alice was a well-known artist. They lived in Litchfield, CT, where they established the Cranston-Fenner Studio.
Mabel Ruth [b 7 July 1903; d 10 Mar. 1998 at Santa Rosa Co., FL; bur Lafayette, McKean Co., PA] m Richard Bonham Lyon [b 2 July 1903; d Oct 1974], son of Paul P. Lyon and Adaline Bonham of Bradford, PA, on 1 Sept. 1927. They lived in Olean, NY, where he was a civil engineer for Messer Oil Corporation. They had Richard [b 28 Nov. 1934] who m Carolyn Ann McHenry, and Edward Phillip [b 12 Nov. 1941].
Charles Richard [b 30 Mar. 1905; d May 1971] m Isabel Blanche [b 27 Jan. 1909; d June 1972] on 17 Oct. 1929, daughter of Leroy J. Crandall and Clarabel Austin. Richard was the president of the University Bank of Alfred, NY. When it merged with Citizens National Bank of Wellsville, he became a vice-president. He had been elected as a county supervisor for Alfred over a period of 24 years.
