He retired in 1962 after forty years as a stock clerk at Northridge Furniture Co. Uncle Eddie was also an Army veteran from World War I and a member of the Grafton Hill Post of the American Legion. He and his brother Harry would stand during the Star Spangled Banner, even if they were in their own homes. They also sang cowboy songs and hymns on the back porch almost every weekend.
