Helen Seewald Fenner

[b 1896; d 23 Aug. 1938 at Los Angeles, CA] Helen m Charles Clayton Miller on 27 June 1917 at Los Angeles, CA, son of Alonzo Miller and Ada Westcott. They settled in Phoenix, AZ, where they had their first two children, then moved to Prescott, AZ, where they had their third child. Clayton drowned tragically in a public pool at age 5. Helen Fenner Miller was a talented soprano who was known for singing in recitals in Arizona, sometimes featuring compositions by her sister Beatrice. Helen evidently died unexpectedly while visiting her mother and sister in Los Angeles.

C.C. MILLER JR. DIES ON COAST. Word was received here yesterday of the death of Charles Clayton Miller, Jr., local real estate dealer, at his summer home in Manhattan Beach, Calif., Saturday of a heart ailment. Born in Omaha, Neb., in 1885, Mr. Miller attended the University of Nebraska. He came to Arizona more than 35 years ago.

As manager for his mother in the Arizona Mine Supply, Prescott, he became widely known in mining circles. In 1928, he and his brother, George, purchased and operated the Miller Brothers’ Motors, local and state dealers for the Nash automobile. In 1941, he was associated with the W.J. Murphy Real Estate Company and more recently has operated his own brokerage office as well as being land appraiser. He was a member of the Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, and the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.

His wife, the late Helen Fenner Miller, preceded him in death nine years ago. Besides his brother, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Richard Wessler of Manhattan Beach and Mrs. Charles H. Bliss of Los Angeles. Funeral services are to be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Inglewood, Calif. Burial will be in the family plot at the Inglewood cemetery. —The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, 1 Sept. 1947
