Descendants of Capt. Arthur Fenner

Bernard Aloysius Fenner

[b 10 Mar. 1902 at Omaha, NE; d 8 Apr. 1984 at Briarcliff Manor, NY] Bernard Aloysius Fenner m Elene May Smith [b 17 June 1907 at David City, NE; d 1999 at Briarcliff Manor, NY] on 12 Oct. 1927 Omaha, NE. Their daughter Rosemary recalled:

Bernard started out as a police reporter for the Omaha Bee News. He moved into radio, at first as a news broadcaster. I remember when Pearl Harbor was attacked, he had to go in to work, and was on the radio all day. I think that was station KOIL, but I'm not positive on that. He joined the State Guard and patrolled our street during air raids. Toward the end of WWII, he moved into managing radio stations in Lincoln and Minneapolis. In 1949, we moved to Pittsburgh, where he was director of station WDUQ at Duquesne University. He also taught radio and TV there. He retired when he was 70. In 1977, he and my mother moved to Briarcliff Manor, NY, where I have lived since 1961, with my family. Soon after, he went to work at Ossining High School (NY) and worked announcing and running programs until December of 1983, when he became ill with complications from congestive heart failure. He died on April 8, 1984, in my home, at the age of 82.
